Because Hard Assets Alliance works like a brokerage account, connecting buyers and sellers with liquidity in a realtime marketplace, we also trade differently inside and outside of market hours – i.e. when our suppliers are online and providing offers – like you would see with a brokerage account.
You can still place buy and sell orders outside market hours; they just get final confirmation when trading reopens, which can affect funds availability and pricing.
All products trade during standard market hours. Many products are also eligible for trading 24x5 in our extended trading session (see product descriptions on our website for eligibility).
Full market hours are:
- Monday - Friday (except for market holidays as defined by the NYSE trading calendar)
- 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern (New York) Time
Extended hours are:
- 6:00 PM Sunday to 5:00 PM Friday, Eastern (New York) Time
- On market holidays, extended trading halts at 6PM the day prior and resumes at 6PM the day of
If you try to place a buy order outside of a product’s market hours, you will see that all orders are required to be a “Cash” order. This is also called an ‘under’ order. It ensures your purchase will not be executed for a dollar amount greater than you intended in the event that market prices move during off-hours. Instead, we will purchase the maximum amount of the product available under that cash limit at the next market open for that product.
If you place a sell order outside of market hours, it will be executed when the market reopens at then current market prices.
